Chelmsford is a suburban town in Middlesex County located on the banks of the Merrimack River. North Chelmsford is home to many mill buildings which played a major role in the Industrial Revolution. While some of the mill buildings are still in use as manufacturing facilities, many have been converted into office buildings, restaurants, and condominiums. The central and southern parts of town were originally home to many farms, and there are still a few working farms in town. Marching bands from around the country participate in the annual Fourth of July Parade. Chelmsford's parade is the largest in the area, and is a must see event which attracts viewers from all over the area. Chelmsford offers a wide variety of housing options. Chelmsford offers homes starting in the mid to upper 200's all the way up to million dollar properties. Chelmsford has many employment opportunities in the numerous office parks, and direct access to Interstate 495 and Route 3 offers a convenient commute to regional shopping and employment centers.  Commuter rail service to Boston is available from the neighboring City of Lowell and from the neighboring Town of Billerica.
